Cork is making a comeback! It is used for many purposes, including interior finishing and decoration. Today we will take a look at cork rolls. How are they made? What are their uses? Finally, how to install cork in a roll? Find out now!
Rolled cork is made by combining natural aggregate with an ecological binder. As a result of the precise connection of the material, a product of various thicknesses can be obtained. Instead of struggling to make a cork board yourself by gluing corks from wine bottles, you can buy a ready-made roll online. This will guarantee you a large and smooth surface without any visible joints.
Rolled cork is usually sold in sections of specific lengths (e.g. 1 metre, 3 metres, 10 metres) or by the so-called running metre. The best stores offer various thicknesses and degrees of granulation of their products. The purchased material can be left raw, without additional finishing, or unevenness can be smoothed out with paint, stain or varnish. Due to the fashion for ecological, raw materials, natural, imperfect structure is currently more popular.
Due to its aesthetic appearance, flexible and anti-allergic properties and exceptional durability, rolled cork has many practical applications.
Cork rolls are ideal for pinning important information and sharing it with interested parties, which explains why cork rolls are used for cork boards. It is then recommended that it be about as thick as a pin (i.e. approx. 10 mm). You can attach photos, printed calendars, plans for the coming weeks and months, notes and other important information to a board prepared in this way. You don't have to buy a ready-made, framed board - just order cork on a roll of your preferred length and mount it on the wall. This way you will have exactly as much space for pinning materials as you need - even from the ceiling to the floor!
Another very common use is cork rolls for information display cases. This solution is often used by schools, all state institutions and company offices. The cork base is extremely durable - because we are sure that it will not crumble too quickly, it is an investment for years. Despite frequent use to attach new notices, everything should remain in the best possible order.
How else can we use cork? A roll can have as many uses as your imagination tells you. Just mention underlayment for panels (to soundproof or warm the floor), a fitness mat, a desk pad, covering furniture fronts, walls or ceilings or various cork decorations.
In our offer you will find both self-adhesive cork rolls and products designed for self-adhesion. In either case, you must first cut the cork to the preferred format (e.g. with a wallpaper knife). If the cork is in a roll for self-adhesion, use a special, preferably ecological glue. Then place the cork on the wall or other surface and precisely, centimeter by centimeter, press it to the surface. We warn you - the glue sets quickly! Be sure to take someone to help you - with two people it will be faster and easier.
Cork rolls do not require special maintenance or care - the glue holds for a very long time, and using a ready-made display case or cork board is a pleasure!
